Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework that can provide guidance to instructors on how to design and develop accessible, inclusive learning environments. This learning module will walk post-secondary instructors through the process of incorporating UDL into their classes.

In this module we provide many strategies that incorporate UDL principles in a post-secondary setting. Please note that they will not work in every course or for every instructor. The context of the course is critical in determining which strategies would be effective. We recommend that individual instructors determine which UDL strategies are appropriate for the course based on a multitude of factors, such as the goals of the course (course outcomes), student learning needs, disciplinary factors, faculty and institutional policies, class size and so on.

You will be able to

  • Familiarize yourself with the principles of UDL and how to incorporate them into the classroom
  • Locate resources relevant to UDL in post-secondary education
  • Create a plan to incorporate UDL strategies into a course that you teach

In this module you will find:

  • 6 lessons
  • Worksheets
  • Additional readings and resources
